...as over 123 Air Cadets achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Awards
123 Air Cadets from Hants & IOW Wing (HIOWW) have successfully completed the DofE award in the past financial year; this has been one of the highlights of HIOWW busy year. HIOWW offered cadets the opportunity to volunteer onto the award scheme, 40%of HIOWW personnel have volunteered onto the scheme.
HIOWW has increased the DofE footprint thanks to the support of adult volunteers attached to 23 Sqns, allowing Air Cadets to receive first class support through the DofE programme. This has been established under the directorship of Flt Lt Noble; HIOWW DofE Officer, whom has implemented a strategy to mentor adult volunteers whom regularly give up their own time to make it happen.
Flt Lt James Noble is aiming for 50% participation in 2014/15. He said, "We are delighted at the magnificent response from our cadets volunteering to undertake the award. We are very proud to celebrate their achievements."
"Air Cadets are dedicated to help the next generation develop the required skills to succeed in the future. DofE provides cadets the opportunity to develop their leadership, communication and problem solving skills. DofE gives cadets the chance to discover new dimensions to their abilities and the confidence to tackle all that life can throw at them"
