About the Air Training Corps

Welcome to the website for the Air Training Corps in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. If you’re aged 12 (and in Year 8) to 18, male or female, and looking for activities which will challenge you and give a sense of adventure then the Air Cadets is the organisation for you.

With 25 units across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight you’re sure to find one near you. From flying and gliding to shooting, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and adventure training the list of activities you can have a go at will only be restricted by the time you have available! The Air Cadets can help you gain recognised qualifications as well as having fun at the same time.

For only a small weekly subscription you can participate in all kinds of activities. After a probationary period you’ll be issued with a free uniform and then the opportunities really start opening up for you!

But the Air Cadets isn’t just for teenagers. We need adult staff as well, to deliver our wide range of activities. So if you’re looking for that extra something, and a way of using and developing your leadership skills, then get involved.

Don’t worry that you don’t know much about the Air Cadets or our activities. We’ll help you develop your skills to enable you to play as much of a part in our activities as you can manage – and along the way you’ll pick up some useful qualifications into the bargain. After some initial training and checks to enable you to work with young people we’ll start to develop your skills.

Don’t worry if you don’t have the time to spare as a staff member. Many people want to get involved in the organisation but cannot commit the time. If this sounds like you then joining one of our Squadron Civilian Committees may be just the opportunity for you. Each Squadron has a Civilian Committee which overseas the running of the Squadron, organises events and fund raising activities. Committees meet at least once per quarter and are a vital part of the Squadron team.

So whatever age you are if you wish to learn more complete the joining form and we’ll send you more information and an invitation to attend a unit local to you for a visit.
