The following letter was received by the Wing Commander from Trudi Hooper, wife of the late Wing Chairman, Geoff Hooper, following the large turn-out of both Cadets and Staff at his funeral.
"Dear Wing Commander Priest,
I am writing to you to express my heartfelt thanks for the support of your staff and cadets at the funeral of my late husband Geoff back in August. I know you will understand how difficult it has been for me over the past few months but in some way, the support your organisation gave Geoff and I over the years has helped me through this difficult time.
Many of my friends and family knew little of the life that Geoff had with the ATC as your Wing Chairman. They were deeply impressed by the turnout of all the cadets who provided the Guard of Honour for Geoff on the day. It is something that neither they nor I will ever forget and I thank you for that memory.
You will recall that Geoff's wish was for donations to be made to The Phyliss Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham. While I cannot say how much was donated by members of the ATC on the day, I do know that £275 was donated through the Wing Headquarters. These donations have been gratefully received by the Hospice and will be well spent on the care of future patients at the hospice.
Please once again accept my deepest gratitude for all your organisation has done and I would be very grateful if you could pass this on to all members of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wing.
Yours faithfully
Trudi Hooper" |
