Cadets gather in Hampshire for ACO Marching Band Camp |
110 Cadets and 25 staff from all over the country – the furthest being Inverness gathered at Browndown Training Camp in Gosport for the first ever National Marching Band Camp between Sunday 25th October and Friday 30th October 2009. Cadet Josh Humphrey from 2412 (Bordon) Squadron, a trumpeter, and Flying Officer Pat Phillips (Wing Music Officer) represented Hampshire & IOW Wing.
Cadets were practicing for a public display and concert which was held on Thursday outside HMS Victory and in the long term will hopefully be selected as part of the massed band of the ACO to perform at the Cadet 150 celebrations next year. The camp went extremely well and everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Cdt Humphrey is now looking forward to attending the concert band camp in February next year at RAF Cranwell and taking part in the next Marching Band Camp in April 2010.
Fg Off Phillips is now a member of HQAC support team for Marching Bands and is keen to develop music further within the wing. The next camp will be held between 3rd & 10th April 2010 in Fort Blockhouse and applications for this will be distributed within the next couple of months.
