Hants & IOW Officers visit Hong Kong Air Cadets |
|||
Two officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wing visited Hong Kong recently and were guests of the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps. Squadron Leader Dudley Howard and Flight Lieutenant Brenda Howard were in Hong Kong over the Christmas and New Year period and took the opportunity to visit 307 Squadron of the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps on 29th December. Escorted by Corporal Crystal Lo, who was an IACE scheme cadet in California in 2006 with Sqn Ldr Howard, they visited the squadron and were shown some of the activities that the cadets, aged 11 - 21, undertake. Hong Kong ACC does not have dedicated premises like we do in the ATC. Units often meet in rented accomodation with 307 Sqn using a local school. Nevertheless they regularly parade 30 cadets. Later in the week they visited the HKACC HQ in a building on what is left of the old Kai Tak airfield. Pictured above are cadets of 307 Sqn and their Staff with Sqn Ldr and Flt Lt Howard. Cpl Lo is wearing the red shirt as immediately following the visit she escorted her guests on a tour of the New Territories The HKACC is run on similar lines to the ATC. Uniform and structure is very similar. There are approximately 40 Squadrons and 4000 cadets in the HKACC. If you want to know more take a look at http://www.aircadets.org.hk/
