CIs and Instructor cadets take to the drill square at Blockhouse

Fourteen Civilian Instructors and Instructor cadets were put through their paces on the latest Civilian Instructor and Pre-uniform service course held at Fort Blockhouse between the 12th and 14th September.  The students were given briefings on a wide range of subjects including Duty of Care, life in the Sergeants Mess, today’s Royal Air Force and Health and Safety.

There was also a practical element to the weekend with all the students undertaking a number of drill sessions under the watchful eye of Warrant Officer A Blyth and Sergeant A Watkins.  The group spent some time in syndicate based discussions working through problems set them on some of the subjects covered to point out some realistic scenarios.

Whilst some of the students will go forward to interview for either SNCO or Commission others wish to remain Civilian Instructors. However, all have benefited from the exposure to new elements of the Corps and been able to meet and share ideas with members of other units.

The next course will be run next spring with the date to be announced soon.  Names are already being taken for that course.
