The Regional Commandant,  Group Captain Remlinger,  presented the trophy to the Wing Sports Officer Flight Lieutenant Whalvin at this season’s Region Swimming Championships.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wing achieved 420 points, fifteen ahead of their closest challengers Plymouth and Cornwall Wing.  The points came from results in all the sports played at an inter wing level. Swimming, Cross Country, Football, Hockey, Rugby, Netball and Athletics as well as points for individual representation by cadets for the Region and the Air Training Corps national teams.

Flight Lieutenant Whalvin said, “ This is a fantastic achievement by all the cadets that have played sport on behalf of the Wing at every level.  Their commitment and that of the staff that supported them was excellent last season.”

This was the first time that the Wing has won this trophy since the 1985-86 season and included wins in senior rugby and football and no fewer than five second place finishes out of the eleven events held.
