Monsters of Rock? In Fordingbridge?

Following the success of last season’s James Bond Disco, 2515 (Ringwood & Fordingbridge) Sqn this year staged its ‘Monsters of Rock’ Christmas Disco live at the Drill Hall featuring 3 rock bands as well as a mobile disco beneath parachutes, camo nets and an awesome lighting display. With fellow musicians, Cadet Corporal Kieron Bull, Cadets Sean Bland and Alex Stanley performed a number of songs live in front of over 50 cadets, staff and invited guests.

Each band had no shortage of ‘groupies’ who danced and screamed to  songs of The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Eric Clapton as well as many of the band’s own numbers. During the intervals, food and drink was consumed in plenty and additional music was provided by the very professional Disc Jockey - Sgt ‘Ash’ Finch.

One of the highlights of the evening was provided by 2515 OC Flt Lt Phil Giles who against his better judgement was persuaded to sing a 12-bar version of Chuck Berry’s Johnny B Good. Phil played lead guitar and was ably supported by Civilian Instructor Carl Bland on bass, his son Sean on rhythm and the awesome drums of Chris Killford aged 14 who is a Phil Collins in the making. Here are some of the photos and a very colourful video (apologies for the quality).
