Totton goes underground! |
2495 (Totton) DF cadets went underground on one of their latest visits at the Royal Armouries Fort Nelson at Portsdown Hill, Portsmouth.
The visit was designed as a team building day with the cadets searching high and low for the answers to a carefully compiled questionnaire with a prize for the highest scoring team at the end of the day. Fort staff member JC gave the cadets a very in depth and highly informative and interesting tour and talk around the site including a visit into the various tunnels under the Fort complex, explaining the fortifications and the various canons and emplacements within the Fort, also pointing out and explaining the cat footprints in the Fareham Red brickwork and detailing Victorian life in the tunnels working with explosives in the worse possible conditions imaginable! The Fort staff complimented the cadets and commented on the enthusiasm shown by them, even taking great interest in the DF questionnaire asking for a copy for themselves for their own use for future other group visits. F/Sgt Karen Mattingly said "It is always a pleasure when the cadets get complimented whilst out on visits, even more so the Fort staff wanting to have a copy of our questionnaire to use for other groups visiting the site". |
