Totton Cadets learn to Heart-Start

Totton Cadets had a really fun evening with a serious overtone to it.  Commanding Officer Flying Officer Gary Harding had seen on the internet that the British Heart Foundation was offering free courses to people, providing them with ELS (Emergency Lifesaving Skills) called HeartStart.  He commented "I feel it is a great advantage for everyone to learn ELS skills, you never know one day day you may be able to save a person's life".

The HeartStart course was arranged through a local British Heart Foundation contact at the Southampton General Hospital School of Medicine.  The course was delivered by Medical Students from the Hospital who freely give thier time to teach people in the community the basic ELS skills to be able to save a life.  Flight Sergeant Karen Mattingly said "It was a fun, very worthwhile evening with a difference, the cadets really enjoyed the course and were all awarded certificates at the end of the course".  Our thanks to the Medical Students of Southampton General Hospital School of Medicine for thier valuable time and skills in delivering the course to our cadets.
