Totton cadets help out at Cub Camp!

A recent Fieldcraft weekend in the New Forest impressed Scout and Cub Leaders so much they asked Totton Air Cadets if they could teach some of thier Fieldcraft skills to the Cubs who had been on a weekend camp at the Scout Centre at Fernycrofts in the New Forest.

The cadets were delighted to show off thier skills to a new and rather large audiance.  The cadets provided 6 stations which they demonstrated tot he cubs different skills used in Fieldcraft and survival. The cubs were treated to demonstrations of camouflage and concealment, shelter building, movement, cooking in the field and survival equipment used by aircrew.

The Cubs tried building shelters themselves and even had a relay race under a scramble net.  The Scout and Cub Leaders were very impressed by the show and demonstrations put on by the Cadets that they are keen for the Cadets to do the same again next year. Sgt Rogers said "Now we understand what it is like to try and teach a bunch of younger people and have a far greater respect for our own staff when they are trying to teaching us".
